Summary

Church View is a charming Cotswold stone property which sleeps eight guests, in four spacious bedrooms, with two bathrooms. Dating back to the 17th century, this stunning country home has a wealth of character features including stone mullion windows, flagstone flooring, exposed beams, an inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove and even two wig cupboards.

These period features have been complemented by modern facilities such as wireless internet access, two Freeview TVs, a well-equipped kitchen and underfloor heating in the bathrooms. There is a large wrap-around garden which overlooks the church, and at the rear of the property there is a courtyard with off-street parking for up to four cars.

Location

Church View is situated in the heart of Lower Slaughter, widely regarded as one of England’s most beautiful villages and former winner of Britain’s most romantic street. Set along the banks of the River Eye, this quaint chocolate-box village has a riverside pub, The Slaughters Manor House which has a fine dining restaurant and gin bar, the impressive St Mary’s Church and the 19th century former flour mill complete with giant working waterwheel. No longer operational, the mill building has been converted into a museum with a shop, tearoom and tempting ice cream parlour. Surrounded by glorious countryside, there are many walks and cycle routes on its doorstep including footpaths to nearby Upper Slaughter, home to a fine dining restaurant, picturesque Bourton-on-the-Water and the slightly further afield market town of Stow-on-the-Wold.

Lower Slaughter is ideally situated for exploring the towns and villages of the North Cotswolds, as well as the many tourist attractions the region has to offer. The Cotswold Motoring and Toy Museum, The Model Village and Birdland Park and Gardens can be found in Bourton, whilst other popular attractions include the Cotswold Falconry Centre, Batsford and Westonbirt Arboretums and a number of National Trust properties. Further afield destinations such as Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon and Oxford are within easy reach for day trips.
