Key Features
Booking and payment
Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own any of the cottages listed on our website. We manage a proportion of cottages within our portfolio and the remaining properties are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for your property manager. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.
For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.
All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.
Security deposits
Security deposits are not required (please note that guests are still liable for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions).
Occupancy
The maximum occupancy of the property is two guests at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than two guests at the property.
Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by up to one additional infant, or a toddler if guests bring a blow up bed.
Pets
Regrettably, pets are not accepted.

A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility, health and safety
There are a couple of steps from the pathway leading down to the patio.
The staircase leads directly into the bedroom, with no door or stairgate, therefore toddlers should be supervised at all times. The bedroom also has some low beams, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency.
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
Smoking
No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property.
Photographs
In order to provide you with as much detail of our properties as possible, we sometimes use wide angle photography, which can make certain rooms, or spaces, appear larger than they actually are. Wherever possible, we try to include a floorplan, with detailed dimensions of rooms and areas.
If you have any queries regarding the size of any rooms or spaces, please do not hesitate to contact us.

-"We loved staying in this beautiful quaint cottage in a peaceful picturesque village in the Cotswolds. The cottage had everything we needed and we were given wine and milk on arrival however it would have been helpful basic cooking essentials such as salt and pepper or oil. The Aga worked beautifully so no issues there. Sally fixed the upstairs TV for us in good time with good communication. The bed was super comfy and there was always hot water. The best bit of this cottage was sitting outside on the patio, which gets sun all day, in the morning with a coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. All in all we were very comfortable staying here for 9 days. Something to bare in mind should if you have a fear of spiders. The spiders were the biggest we’ve ever seen!!! We would recommend the local pub in the village, fantastic food and great service. It took half an hour walk into Stow-on-the-Wold and was within easy reach to many of the classic Cotswolds top attractions.”, David, August 2020

-"Just returned back from a long weekend to celebrate a special birthday at this lovely quaint, peaceful country cottage. It is very well equipped with quality items. Just a short walk to the Horse and Groom pub which was very friendly, welcoming and we had a lovely meal there. A longer walk takes you to Lower Oddington where there is the Fox Inn or just a little but further is the delightful Daylesford Organic Farm Shop which although pricey stocks a variety of lovely eats and treats. The cafe there is amazing and well worth the walk or if your prefer it is just a few minutes by car.", Nigel, July 2019

Cottage is located a short drive from some excellent villages...ie Stow, Bourton on the water, the Slaughters. There is also a Horse and Groom pub a 2 min walk away. Would highly recommend a stay here.”, Dan, June 2019
