Gables Cottage is a Grade II listed Cotswold stone property which sleeps six guests, in three bedrooms, with two bathrooms. The cottage has been lovingly furnished by its owners and retains many of its original character features, including a large inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove, exposed oak beams and Cotswold stone walls, elm floorboards and stunning wooden spiral staircases.

The character of the cottage is complemented by modern facilities including wireless internet access, a TV with BT TV, and a well-equipped kitchen. There is a wonderful enclosed rear garden, and quiet off-street parking for two cars is available.


Located in the picturesque village of Churchill, Gables Cottage is surrounded by the beautiful Cotswold countryside. This peaceful and idyllic village is fortunate to have a well-regarded village pub, The Chequers, a village green and the historic All Saints church which has features modelled on three Oxford colleges.

Churchill falls within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with many walks and cycle routes on its doorstep to enjoy, including a five mile route to neighbouring Kingham. Kingham is a popular chocolate box village which is home to the Daylesford organic farmshop and café and the award-winning Wild Rabbit inn which prides itself on its creative dishes and use of seasonal ingredients. Churchill is within easy reach of many other lovely towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Blenheim Palace.

The back door opens into a small porch which leads into a hallway, off which are the following rooms:
Living room The spacious dual aspect living room has an abundance of character including exposed oak beams, exposed Cotswold stone and flagstone flooring in one half of the room. This room contains:

Kitchen/dining room The well presented dual aspect kitchen/dining room has traditional oak beams and contains:

A steep and narrow wooden spiral staircase, with a handrail in the centre and fixed stair gates at the top and bottom, leads up from the hallway to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms:
Master bedroom with ensuite bathroom This beautifully spacious dual aspect bedroom, with elm floorboards and exposed oak beams, contains:
  • king size bed
  • freestanding wardrobe with drawers for storage
  • dressing table with small drawers for additional storage

The master bedroom leads into a compact ensuite bathroom which contains:

  • walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin
Bedroom 2 A bright and well presented dual aspect bedroom with a wealth of character features including oak beams, elm floorboards and an exposed Cotswold stone feature wall. This room contains:
  • king size bed
  • ornamental inglenook fireplace
  • chest of drawers and hanging rail
  • dressing table and two chairs

Family bathroom This light and spacious bathroom contains:

A door on the first floor landing opens to reveal a second steep spiral staircase which leads up to the second floor landing. There is no handrail on this staircase, nor is there a stair gate at the top, and on the second floor landing there is a particularly low beam which must be ducked under to enter bedroom 3:
Bedroom 3
This pretty bedroom in the eaves has attractive oak beams and exposed wooden floorboards and contains:
  • two single beds
  • three-seater sofa
  • built-in cupboards for storage

There is a beautiful mature enclosed garden at the back of the cottage, comprising lawn and patio areas, with an outdoor table and plenty of seating, as well as a charcoal barbecue and a selection of children’s outdoor toys. There is an outhouse which contains a washing machine, tumble dryer and a large fridge/freezer. Please note that the neighbouring property has a right of access across the back garden.

Off-street parking for two cars is available outside the garden.
