Gleed Cottage is a beautiful, traditional Cotswold stone property, with a wealth of character features and an enclosed garden, located in the picturesque village of Naunton. The village is very popular, being set away from busy roads and benefitting from a good village pub, golf course and many walks straight from the doorstep. The well known market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water are also both within six miles, with their wide range of pubs, shops and restaurants.
Dating back approximately 200 years, Gleed Cottage has a wealth of character features, including oak beams, mullion windows, flagstone floors and a large inglenook fireplace, containing a wood burning stove. Complementing these character features, the cottage has modern facilities, including a TV and a well equipped kitchen.
Gleed Cottage sleeps a maximum of four people, in two bedrooms, with one bathroom. There is quiet, on street parking available close to the cottage. It is an ideal retreat for couples, families, or small groups of friends.
Description
Gleed Cottage’s front door opens into the living room. The open plan downstairs contains the following areas:
- Living room: Full of character, the living room contains oak beams, a flagstone floor and a large inglenook fireplace, with a wood burning stove. There is also a TV and a DVD player and comfortable seating for four adults;
- Dining area: Contains a table and four chairs;
- Kitchen: The kitchen area includes a dishwasher, electric cooker with four hobs, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge.
Stairs lead up to the first floor landing, off which are the following two rooms:
- Bedroom 1: Contains a double bed;
- Family bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead electric shower, basin and toilet.
A lovely ledge and brace door opens to a second stairway to the top floor bedroom:
- Bedroom 2: A beautiful eaves room, which can be set up as either two 75cm wide single beds or a king size bed.
The cottage's enclosed garden is at the front of the house and includes a patio area with a table and four chairs, plus a charcoal barbecue.
Key Features
Booking and payment
Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own any of the cottages listed on our website. We manage a proportion of cottages within our portfolio and the remaining properties are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for your property manager. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.
For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.
All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.
Security deposits
Security deposits are not required (please note that guests are still liable for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions).
Occupancy
The maximum occupancy of the property, is four guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than four guests at the property.
Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by one additional infant.
Pets
Up to two dogs are accepted, at a cost of £20 per booking per dog.
For the comfort of future guests, we ask that dogs remain downstairs, stay off the furniture and that no trace of a dog remains after your departure.
Bed linen and towels
Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.
Arrival and departure times
Arrival time is any time after 5pm and departure time is by 10am.

- Bedroom 2: 2 x 75cm wide single beds or a king size bed
Bathrooms
- Family bathroom: Bath with overhead electric shower, basin and toilet
Heating, fuel and logs
The property has an electric central heating system.
Electricity and gas are included in the rental price. A reasonable supply of logs is provided for the wood burning stove from October until May.
Services provided
The property has free wireless internet access and there is a TV at the property.
Mobile phone reception is generally OK, however, this cannot be guaranteed.
Parking
Quiet, on street parking is available, close to the property.
Housekeeping
Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.
Child friendly facilities
A travel cot (without linen), high chair, fire guard and safety gate are provided. The travel cot fits in both bedrooms.
The property’s garden is enclosed.
Initial consumables
A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility, health and safety
This is an old, character property and has many character features, including narrow and steep stairs, low beams and two floors, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency.
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
Smoking
No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property.

Gleed Cottage is located in the quiet village of Naunton, within 6 miles of the popular market towns of Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.
Travelling by car
Gleed Cottage is easily accessed by car, being located approximately 4 miles away from the A429 (Fosse Way) and approximately 6 miles away from the A40, which are two of the main roads running through the North Cotswolds.
Travelling by train
The nearest railway station to Gleed Cottage is Kingham (approximately 10 miles away), which has regular, direct services to London Paddington, with a typical journey time of less than 90 minutes.
