Summary
***Maugersbury Manor is a perfect rural retreat for families looking to spend quality time together in the heart of the Cotswolds. Same sex groups such as Hen and Stag parties are not permitted at this property, although we do welcome same sex family groups looking for a relaxing break in the countryside.***
Maugersbury Manor is an enchanting Grade II listed property which sleeps eight guests, in six bedrooms, with five spacious bathrooms. This fabulous property dates back to the early 17th century and has been recently renovated to create a stylish, contemporary home with a variety of wonderful character features including exposed beams, exposed Cotswold stone walls, two fireplaces with wood burning stoves, ornamental fireplaces, stone mullion windows and original wood flooring.
These period touches are complemented by modern facilities and elegant design features including wireless internet access, a Smart TV, underfloor heating in some rooms, marble flooring and a stunning dining area which sits beneath a beautiful glass roof lantern. This breathtaking country house has a superb garden with rural views and plenty of off-street parking on its private driveway.
Location
Maugersbury Manor is tucked away in the peaceful rural village of Maugersbury, an idyllic hamlet located almost 200ft above the valley bottom below, offering glorious country views and scenic walks on its doorstep. Just half a mile from Maugersbury is the popular market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, once a small settlement within the lands of the Manor and now home to a number of independent shops, tearooms, pubs and restaurants. This much loved town has preserved many of its notable historic features including the bustling market square with its medieval stone cross and old town stocks, and the ‘tures’, narrow alleyways which were once used to channel the many sheep to market.
Maugersbury is well-placed for exploring the many picturesque towns and villages of the North Cotswolds such as Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden, Bourton-on-the-Water and Broadway, all benefitting from well-regarded pubs and restaurants. Further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Oxford and Blenheim Palace are also within easy reach for day trips.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.
Security deposits
A security deposit of £2,000 is payable, which is returned after the letting period, subject to an inspection of the property. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival. In the event that the owners, or their appointed housekeepers, have to spend additional time tidying up after your departure, then the cost of this extra time may be deducted from your security deposit. The security deposit is payable prior to arrival at the property, via a bank transfer or a valid debit or credit card.
Occupancy
The maximum occupancy of the property, including its grounds, is eight guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised occupancy or an unpermitted group is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and your security deposit being retained. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than eight guests at the property or if your group is made up of a single sex.
Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by up to two additional infants.

Accessibility, health and safety
This is an old, Grade II listed property laid out over three floors, with many character features including low beams, uneven floors and uneven flooring on the staircases, restricted head height through some doorways and steps between rooms, all of which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency.
There is a shallow, unfenced pond in the garden, therefore young children should be supervised outside at all times.
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
Smoking
No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property.
Hen, Stag and other same sex groups
Unfortunately, Hen, Stag and other same sex groups are not allowed at Maugersbury Manor. Please note that same sex family groups are welcome.
Stow Horse Fair
The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade, which dates back to 1476, when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates.
Photographs
In order to provide you with as much detail of our properties as possible, we sometimes use wide angle photography, which can make certain rooms, or spaces, appear larger than they actually are. Wherever possible, we try to include a floorplan, with detailed dimensions of rooms and areas.
If you have any queries regarding the size of any rooms or spaces, please do not hesitate to contact us.
