Description
Summary
Quaint End is a stunning honey-coloured Cotswold stone property which sleeps four guests, in two stylish bedrooms, with a contemporary family bathroom. Dating back to the mid-19th century, this three-storey cottage has a wealth of character features including exposed oak beams, exposed stone, flagstone flooring, a Clearview wood burning stove and a separate open fire. These beautiful period touches have been complemented by modern facilities such as wireless internet access, two Smart TVs, underfloor heating in the Fired Earth fitted bathroom suite and a well-equipped kitchen. The attractive south west facing garden overlooks the village to the church beyond, and there is off-street parking available for one car.
Location
Quaint End is tucked away in the quintessentially English village of Ebrington, a peaceful, picture-postcard setting which is home to thatched cottages, a thriving farm shop and café, and an award-winning pub, The Ebrington Arms. Popular with locals and visitors alike, the pub was voted the UK’s number one village pub by The Times in 2017 and prides itself on its seasonal menu and its very own range of craft ales. The village is surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with many rewarding walks and cycle routes on its doorstep to discover.
Ebrington is well-placed for exploring the many charming towns and villages of the North Cotswolds including Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold, Mickleton, Blockley and Broadway. In addition to country walks, browsing the local shops and indulging in one of the region’s many tearooms, there are a variety of tourist attractions to enjoy including the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, the National Trust owned Hidcote Gardens and the Cotswold Falconry Centre. Further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath are easily accessible for historical day trips.

Key Features
Booking and payment
Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own any of the cottages listed on our website. We manage a proportion of cottages within our portfolio and the remaining properties are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for your property manager. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.
For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.
All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.
Security deposits
Security deposits are not required (please note that guests are still liable for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions).
Occupancy
The maximum occupancy of the property is four guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than four guests at the property.
Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by up to two additional infants.
Pets
Up to two medium sized dogs are accepted, at a cost of £20 per booking per dog.
For the comfort of future guests, we ask that dogs do not go in the bedrooms, that they stay off the furniture and that no trace of a dog remains after your departure.
Due to the right of way in the garden, dogs should be kept under control outside at all times.
Bed linen and towels
Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.
Arrival and departure times
Arrival time is after 5pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.
Bed sizes and configurations
- Master bedroom: King size bed
- Bedroom 2: Super king size bed or 2 x single beds
Bathroom
- Family bathroom: Bath, walk-in rain shower, toilet and wash basin
Heating, fuel and logs
The property has a gas central heating system.
Electricity and gas are included in the rental price. An initial basket of logs is provided for the wood burning stove and the open fire, and further log supplies can be purchased locally.
Services provided
The property has free wireless internet access, two Smart TVs, one of which has a DVD player, and a digital radio.
There is no telephone at the property.
Mobile phone reception is generally OK outside the property, however it can be variable inside, typically being better towards the top of the cottage.
Parking
The property has off-street parking for one car, however the parking is accessed via a very narrow lane and guests may prefer to park on the street, close to the cottage.
Guests should be aware that the two neighbouring properties have allocated parking spaces within the enclosed garden of Quaint End. This is particularly relevant to guests with children or pets, as the neighbours have the right to access the garden at any time, which could result in the gate being accidentally left open. There is a short lane between the gate and the road, however children and pets should be supervised in the garden at all times.
Housekeeping
Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.
Child friendly facilities
A travel cot (without linen) and a high chair are provided. The property's garden is enclosed, however please see the parking notes above.
Parents with young children should note that the Aga in the kitchen remains on all the time, so it will always be hot to touch.
Initial consumables
A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, handful of Nespresso capsules, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility, health and safety
This is an old property and has many character features including very narrow and steep stairs from the first to the second floor, low bedroom doorways and multiple floors, all of which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency.
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
Smoking
No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property.
Corporate and commercial bookings
Unfortunately, this property does not accept corporate, work related or commercial bookings of any kind.
Photographs
In order to provide you with as much detail of our properties as possible, we sometimes use wide angle photography, which can make certain rooms, or spaces, appear larger than they actually are. Wherever possible, we try to include a floorplan, with detailed dimensions of rooms and areas.
If you have any queries regarding the size of any rooms or spaces, please do not hesitate to contact us.
