“Well the cottage was fine, on the first day the sink plug in the bathroom jammed, the plumber released it and said it needed a new one, it was'nt replaced while we were there so no sink for a week, then the bath plug jammed so we reported this, however we did manage to release it after a while, and the TV has no terrestrial channels.”

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Primrose Cottage. I'm sorry to hear you had a few issues with the plugs jamming, but we will feed this back to the Housekeeper/Owner for review. We hope you still had a lovely time exploring the Cotswolds. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

The property

Primrose Cottage is a lovely Grade II listed property that sleeps up to four guests, in two bedrooms, with a stylish family bathroom.

This Cotswold stone cottage has a wealth of character features, including oak beams, stone mullion windows and a beautiful inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove. Lovingly furnished by its owners, the character of the cottage is complemented by the contemporary decor and modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a Smart TV with DVD player and a well presented kitchen.

There is a large enclosed garden, with a brook running alongside, and quiet on-street parking is readily available approximately 100 metres away from the cottage. Primrose Cottage is tucked away on a tranquil lane close to the historic heart of the village of Blockley.

This peaceful and picturesque village benefits from having two pubs and a community owned village shop & café, as well as a historic Norman church and a children’s playground in the centre of the village. Blockley is surrounded by rolling countryside which forms part of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with plenty of walks on its doorstep to enjoy.

Blockley is ideally situated for exploring the popular Cotswold market towns of Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden and Stow-on-the-Wold, as well as being well placed for trips to popular tourist destinations such as Blenheim Palace, Stratford-upon-Avon and Oxford.

Primrose Cottage is at the end of a row of four cottages, which are accessed by a path running alongside a tranquil stream. The front door opens into the living room and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living room: This characterful room has a beautiful exposed Cotswold stone wall with a large inglenook fireplace and a cosy wood burning stove.

There is a stylish two seater sofa, two arm chairs, and a SMART TV with DVD player and Bluetooth speaker; Kitchen/dining room: The well presented kitchen overlooks the garden and contains an electric cooker, four-ring gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle and a combined washing machine/tumble dryer.

There is also a country kitchen table with seating for four. Stairs lead up from the ground floor to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 2: A pretty room looking out over the peaceful brook, which contains a double bed; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with handheld shower attachment, toilet and wash basin. Further stairs lead up to the second floor: Master bedroom: A bright and beautiful eaves room, looking out over the garden, with a wrought iron king size bed. A stable door leads out from the kitchen to the back garden, which the babbling brook runs directly alongside.

There is a wooden bench outside the back door and a bistro table with two chairs.

The garden opens out into a long stretch of lawn, providing a very pleasant place to relax, with views to the hills beyond and the stream gently flowing past.

About the location

BLOCKLEY

Moreton-in-Marsh 3 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 11 miles; Cheltenham 22 miles.

An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. The highest town in the Cotswolds, this ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham, boasting an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, as well as being famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance, making Blockley a great base for a Cotswolds holiday.

Note: The neighbouring property behind, at the end of the garden, is having an extension built, approx 30m away. You may experience some noise disruption.

Note: Regrettably, due to the steepness of the stairs, a low window in the top bedroom and the fast-flowing stream running through the garden, the property does not accept children under the age of 8, though babes-in-arms are accepted.

Note: The walk from the end of the road, where luggage can be unloaded, to Primrose Cottage is approximately 75 yards, on a flat footpath alongside the brook.

Note: Blockley is in a valley and guests should be aware that mobile phone reception can be very poor.

Note: An initial basket of logs is provided for the woodburning stove from October through to March; guests should purchase their own log supplies locally outside of these months.

Note: TV reception is very poor at the property, however the normal online channels such as iPlayer and itv player are all available.

Note: A telephone is provided, with an honesty box for the cost of the calls made.
