“We had a great stay at this fabulous place and would stay there again.”

The beds could do with better mattresses and there was a distinct lack of mirrors but otherwise Bunt Barn was brilliant. Highly recommended.

The property

Bunt Barn is a stylish Cotswold stone holiday home which sleeps six guests, in three spacious bedrooms, with two bathrooms. This recently renovated barn conversion has been finished to a high standard with a warm interior that complements the country feel of the property and wonderful character features including exposed beams, exposed Cotswold stone walls and traditional furnishings. These period elements are complemented by modern facilities including wireless internet access, two TVs and underfloor heating throughout the property, and the largely open plan ground floor layout makes it perfect for socialising. There is a large garden at the front of the barn and off-street parking for up to three cars is available on the gravel driveway. Bunt Barn is tucked away in the picturesque village of Broadwell, a quaint and unspoilt village which benefits from a popular pub, a village hall which hosts a tea and cake morning once a week, and a large green which has a children’s playground. Situated within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village is surrounded by glorious countryside, with many cycle routes and walks on its doorstep, including the Monarch’s Way long distance walking trail which passes through Broadwell on its way to Stow-on-the-Wold, just a mile away. Another popular destination nearby is Daylesford, home to the renowned Daylesford Organic Farmshop and Café. The café serves food throughout the day and there is also a restaurant for a more refined dining experience. Broadwell is well placed for exploring many of the lovely towns and villages of the North Cotswolds, including Chipping Norton, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Kingham to name just a few. Between them they offer a wide range of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms to enjoy, along with a number of attractions to discover, such as the Model Village and Cotswold Motoring and Toy Museum in Bourton and the historic sights of Stow with its market square, old town stocks and medieval cross. Further afield places such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, Blenheim Palace and Bath are also within easy reach for day trips. The front door opens into a stylish entrance hall, a great space to store coats, umbrellas and muddy boots. From here, three stone steps lead up to a hallway, off which are the following rooms, all with underfloor heating: Living room: At the heart of the home is the superb living room, flooded with natural light from the floor to ceiling windows which overlook the garden. This room has many beautiful character features including exposed wooden beams, exposed Cotswold stone walls and Cotswold stone flooring. This room contains a Smart TV, two three-seater sofas and an armchair, as well as two wooden chairs and a footstool; Kitchen/dining room: The living room leads through into the open plan kitchen/dining room, tastefully decorated and well-equipped for home cooking. This room has character features aplenty, with four exposed Cotswold stone walls and stone flooring. One side of the kitchen overlooks the garden, whilst the other side looks into the living room, making this a sociable area and perfect for entertaining. This room contains an electric Rayburn oven with two hobs, baking oven and warming oven, a two-ring induction hob, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, George Foreman grill and two cafetières. There is also a large island with two breakfast stools and a large wooden dining table with seating for six; Snug: Tucked away off the hall, this room is ideal for reading or for use as a workspace. It contains a writing desk and chair, a built-in seating area, wooden armchair and a small selection of books, toys and puzzles. Accessed from the snug is a cloakroom which contains a toilet and wash basin; Utility room: Adjacent to the entrance hall, this handy space contains a freezer, sink, washing machine and tumble dryer. Stairs lead up from the hallway to a mid-level landing where the staircase divides. One flight continues up to the gallery and two bedrooms, whilst the flight on the right leads to bedroom 3 and the family bathroom. The following rooms are on the first floor, all with underfloor heating: Bedroom 2: Overlooking the lawn and beautiful orchard, this bedroom also receives natural light from the glass panels which look down over the living room and across to the gallery. This warm and cosy bedroom contains a king size bed, chest of drawers, door hooks for hanging clothes, a chair and mirror; Gallery: This lovely additional sitting room looks over the living area below and across the grounds to the stunning orchard. This bright, sociable space contains an armchair, two-seater sofa and wooden chair, along with a dresser and a small selection of books; Master bedroom with ensuite bathroom: This elegant and spacious bedroom has an impressive high vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden beams, and exposed Cotswold stone walls. This dual aspect room contains a king size bed, Freeview TV, built-in wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is also a wooden chair and mirror. The bedroom leads into the ensuite bathroom which contains a bath with handheld shower attachment, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail; Bedroom 3: This light, airy and tastefully decorated room contains a king size bed, large built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers and comfy armchair; Family bathroom: The end of the landing becomes the family bathroom, with an open plan basin area. This space contains a wash basin and heated towel rail, along with a separate toilet and separate walk-in shower. The French doors in the kitchen/dining room lead out into the magnificent garden, beautifully maintained and wonderful for fair weather days. The terrace outside the kitchen has a bistro table with seating for two, as well as a larger outdoor table which can seat four guests. The large enclosed garden has an immaculately kept lawn and an orchard at the back, a perfect playground for younger children. A charcoal barbecue and sun lounger have been provided to make the most of sunny days and mature trees and shrubs cast welcome shade in the hotter weather. The owners’ grounds cover approximately half an acre, and guests are welcome to explore the delightful countryside beyond the farm gates. Off-street parking is available for three cars on the private driveway.
