    “Not enough wine glasses of same type for 6 people.”

    Indications on different coloured bin liners confusing (supposed to be supplied and were not...), needed calling customer service to resolve issue (used black ones all round...). Many thanks for Christmas tree and goodies on the table !

The property

Wall Cottage is an elegantly presented Cotswold stone cottage which sleeps six guests, in three beautiful bedrooms, with a family bathroom. Renovated to a high standard, the property benefits from a bright and spacious open plan ground floor layout and a number of modern facilities including wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen. The cottage boasts a contemporary interior with a sleek minimalist finish, stylish flagstone flooring and an inviting wood burning stove whose fireplace combines both modern and period design. There is a lovely courtyard garden at the rear and free on-street parking is available nearby. Wall Cottage is located in the heart of the bustling market town of Burford, a picturesque medieval town which is home to a number of independent shops, galleries, restaurants and tearooms. Considered the southern gateway to the Cotswolds, the High Street descends from the high Wolds down to the River Windrush, offering glorious views across the Windrush Valley. The street is lined with ancient cottages, slanting half-timbered houses and refined Georgian townhouses, and there is a museum which illustrates the town’s social and industrial past. Surrounded by stunning countryside, there are many walks and cycle routes on Burford’s doorstep, as well as a range of popular attractions including Burford Golf Club, the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Crocodiles of the World. Given its central location, Burford is well-placed for exploring the many historic towns and villages of the Cotswolds such as Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Kingham, Bibury and Cirencester. Further afield destinations such as Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Cheltenham and Bath are easily accessible for day trips. Wall Cottage is the perfect retreat for a gathering of friends or family who are seeking a relaxing getaway just a stone’s throw from the centre of a vibrant market town. The front door opens into a small entrance hall and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living room: With stylish flagstone flooring throughout the ground floor, this tastefully decorated space contains a stone fireplace with cosy wood burning stove, Smart TV, two-seater sofa, two armchairs and a Sonos speaker; Dining room: A continuation of the living room, this smart open plan dining area is perfect for entertaining and contains a large dining table with seating for six; Kitchen: Overlooking the garden, this well-equipped kitchen is flooded with natural light from the Velux windows and patio doors. Beautifully presented, it contains an American-style fridge/freezer with manual fill water dispenser, an electric oven with four-ring induction hob, washing machine/tumble dryer, slimline dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and two armchairs; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and wash basin. Stairs lead up from the ground floor hall to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: Overlooking the rooftops of Burford, this immaculate bedroom contains a double bed and a freestanding wardrobe with storage drawers; Bedroom 2: This elegant room contains a double bed, ornamental fireplace, clothes rail, wooden chair and wall mirror; Family bathroom: A bright and airy room which contains a bath with overhead shower and separate handheld shower attachment, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. A second staircase leads up from the first floor landing to the second floor landing, off which is bedroom 3: Bedroom 3: Located in the eaves, this light and spacious room has painted beams and views towards the church. With Velux windows and blackout blinds, this room contains two single beds, a bedside table and built-in shelves for storage and a children’s table with two chairs. Accessed via the kitchen is the enclosed patio garden, a tranquil spot in which guests can relax and enjoy the fresh air. Four stone steps lead up to the higher tier which is bordered by fragrant lavender and home to an outdoor table with seating for four, along with a fire pit which can be used as a barbecue. There is free on-street parking close to the property.

About the location

Burford

Burford is possibly one of, if not THE most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located mid way between Oxford and Cheltenham (25 mins each away) it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit.

The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits!

With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.

Note: An initial basket of logs is provided for the woodburning stove from October to April; further log supplies can be purchased locally. Note: Young children should be supervised when in the garden as there is a raised patio with a drop to the lower level. Note: The Velux windows in the twin bedroom do not have child locks.
