- Emily, Feb 2020Helen “What a lovely comfortable & stylish cottage.”
We enjoyed the proximity to Tetbury with an array of antique shops galore! We visited Bath which was an easily managed one hour drive. Beds exceptionally comfy with quality linen. We enjoyed the log burner & home from home feel!Thankyou!
- Helen, Feb 2020Paul “We loved our weekend in Pear Tree Cottage; a delightful retreat.”
It was warm and very comfortable, and suited the four of us beautifully. We enjoyed cooking in the very well equipped kitchen, and eating in the pretty dining room. Two miles or so from Minchinhampton with pubs (we ate a very good meal at The Crown) and shops, Cherington itself is a lovely Cotswolds village with walks from the door - the countryside around magical with hard frosts on the 2 days we were there.
- Paul, Jan 2020Emily “Great little cottage, perfect location, great facilities.”
Couldn't have asked for more.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very well decorated and has all the amenities you could need. The village is very quite and peaceful. The region has lots to do with Tetbury close by.

- Charlotte, May 2019Leigh “What a lovely cottage and what a lovely village.”
We met friendly people in the village, the cottage is a really nice place, quiet and relaxed. Highly recommended if that's your vibe
- Leigh, Apr 2019Lucy “Beautiful, cosy cottage!”
We had a fab stay and loved being in front of the fire with a glass of wine in the evening.
- Lucy, Mar 2019Zack 2020 “Check-in was a breeze – Kevin met us promptly and was very helpful and friendly in showing us round.”
The cottage is close enough to supermarkets to buy supplies (10-15min from many major brands) yet equally set in the countryside to escape from everything. It was perfectly clean and had everything you could possibly need. Internet was great too for film nights and booking your tickets...but you’d hardly need it beyond that because of the beautiful scenery. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone!

The property
Pear Tree Cottage is a beautifully renovated holiday home peacefully located in the rural hamlet of Cherington. Surrounded by the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Cherington is a quintessential English village with a village green and a parish church. Close by is the village of Avening, home to two well-regarded country pubs, and there is a lovely organic farm shop with a café just a five minute drive from the cottage. Cherington is perfectly placed for exploring the many pretty towns and villages of the South Cotswolds including Tetbury, Nailsworth, Malmesbury and Cirencester, as well as the spa towns of Bath and Cheltenham. The cottage has been recently renovated by its owners to a high standard, with a mixture of vintage, antique and modern furniture. The stylish contemporary feel of the property is enhanced by character features including exposed wooden beams, stone mullion windows and two beautiful fireplaces, both with wood burning stoves. Modern touches include wireless internet access, a Freeview TV, a DAB radio and a spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Pear Tree Cottage sleeps four guests, in two spacious bedrooms, with a stylish family bathroom. There is a pretty patio at the front of the cottage and an impressive garden at the rear, and on-street parking is readily available within the village. The cottage is the perfect retreat for a couple, a small group of friends or a family with older children looking for a relaxing break in the Cotswolds. Pear Tree Cottage is located in the quiet hamlet of Cherington. Accessed via a lovely patio garden, the front door opens directly into the spacious yet cosy living room. The following rooms are located on the ground floor: Living room: This bright and airy space is full of character and charm, including a bay window, wooden flooring, an inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove and vintage and antique tables, all complemented by wonderful artwork. There are two sofas, a Freeview TV, and a DAB radio; Dining room: This elegantly presented room is an ideal space for entertaining. There is a large wooden dining table with seating for six, an inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, a restored antique chair, a converted copper paraffin lamp and an iPod docking station; Kitchen: This well-equipped space is perfect for home cooking and features an electric oven with four-ring electric hob, fridge with ice box, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and a CD player with radio; Utility room: A handy space for keeping muddy boots and storing jackets. This room contains a washing machine/tumble dryer, microwave and an additional fridge. A staircase in between the kitchen and utility room leads up to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: A beautifully presented room with gorgeous views overlooking the quiet country lane from the bay window. There is a king size bed, two chests of drawers (one with a vanity mirror), a wooden rocking chair, plus hooks behind the door for additional hanging space; Bedroom 2: Overlooking the pear tree in the front garden, this lovely bedroom contains two single beds, a chest of drawers for storage, plus hooks for additional hanging space; Family bathroom: A bright and stylish bathroom with a bath, walk-in shower, toilet, wash basin and a heated towel rail. The beautiful rear garden is accessed via the utility room and comprises three different areas. The first section is a lawn bordered by pretty flowers and a box hedge, a lovely setting to relax and unwind. From here, the garden continues through a gap in the stone wall to another well-maintained area which is bordered by flowers, grasses and a variety of fruit trees. This part of the garden descends to one last lawn area, a lovely tranquil space which provides stunning views over the rolling hills and Cotswold countryside beyond. Free on-street parking is readily available close to the cottage and throughout the hamlet.
About the location
CHERINGTON
Tetbury 4 miles; Michinhampton; 2 miles
The Cotswold village of Cherington in Gloucestershire lies just 4 miles from Tetbury. This picturesque, albeit small village might not seem like much, but there is plenty to keep you occupied. Take a stroll down to the local pub, the Cherington Arms. It's a country pub that serves only the best pub food, in areas such as its dining room, garden, and patio, in addition to games such as Dominoes, Crib, and Aunt Sally. If you are searching for something slightly different, try Trudie's Tea Room. This lovely tearoom offers its customers a variety of cakes, scones, teas, and coffees. You can spend a fun-filled day at the Cherington Show with plenty of activities for the whole family, including kid's corner, animal corner, vintage tractors, tea tent, and much more. The Cotswold towns of Minchinhampton and its Golf Club are just 2 miles away, and Highgrove Gardens in Tetbury is only 5 miles away, making Cherington a perfect retreat.
Note: The maximum occupancy of the property, including its grounds, is four guests (including infants in cots). Note: Regrettably, Pear Tree Cottage does not accept children under the age of ten years; though babes-in-arms are accepted and guests are welcome to bring their own travel cot and high chair, to accommodate one infant. Note: As both of the reception rooms have wood burning stoves, children should be supervised at all times. Note: The second floor of the property is private and is not accessible for guest use. Note: The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
