    “A really beautiful cottage!”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already recommended it to others. Only small issue was the loo seat lid in the bathroom on the first floor which had a habit of falling forward if not careful when taking a seat!

The property

Stanley Cottage is a stunning, Grade II listed, Cotswold stone cottage, located in the heart of the beautiful market town of Chipping Campden. Widely regarded as one of England's most picturesque towns, Chipping Campden has a wide range of small shops, pubs, tea rooms and restaurants. It is also surrounded by the stunning Cotswolds countryside, with the 100 mile long Cotswold Way walking trail passing through the town. The many other beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all just a short drive away, as are well known places and attractions, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, the gardens at Hidcote and Blenheim Palace. Lovingly refurbished by its owners, this luxurious cottage combines a beautiful, contemporary style with original character features, including exposed oak beams in many rooms, a large inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, and traditional oak doors. The character of the cottage is complemented by its modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a Smart TV, and a spacious, well presented kitchen. Stanley Cottage sleeps five people, in three bedrooms, with two shower rooms and a roll top bath in the master bedroom. There is a well-established, enclosed, split level garden at the rear of the cottage. The cottage is perfect for a family, friends or a couple, seeking a relaxing break in one of the prettiest market towns in the Cotswolds, surrounded by stunning, rolling countryside. Stanley Cottage sits in a row of cottages, close to the centre of Chipping Campden. Three stone steps lead up to the front door, which opens directly into the main living room. The following rooms are on the ground floor: Living room: The stylish living room retains a number of character features, including beautiful oak beams and a large inglenook fireplace, with a wood burning stove. There is plenty of seating, including a three-seater sofa, a two-seater sofa, and a window seat for three, and the room also contains a Smart TV; Kitchen/dining room: This beautiful, well presented room is at the back of the cottage, overlooking the garden. The kitchen area contains a Rangemaster oven with a five-zone induction hob, a full height fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine and kettle. There is a large dining table, with seating for six, next to a pair of French doors that open directly into the garden. Stairs lead up from the ground floor to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: A lovely, spacious room, with beautiful oak beams, an ornamental fireplace, and views of the historic St James’ Church out of the window. The room contains a king size bed and a freestanding roll top bath, with privacy screen; Bedroom 3: Another elegant room, which overlooks the garden, and contains a single bed; Shower room: Contains a walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin. Steep, winding wooden stairs lead up from the landing to the second floor, with the following two rooms: Bedroom 2: A lovely room in the eaves of the cottage, with exposed beams and a king size bed. There are fabulous views of St James' Church from the window; Shower room: Contains a walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin. French doors lead out from the kitchen into the garden, which is enclosed by a lovely Cotswold stone wall. Immediately outside the kitchen is a patio area, with a table and seating for six, plus a charcoal barbecue in the summer. Steps lead up from the patio to the rest of the garden, with lovely plants and shrubs lining a stone path. Free on street parking is available in front of or close to, the cottage with further parking available throughout the town.

About the location

CHIPPING CAMPDEN

Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 12 miles

This market town defines the saying "good things come in small packages" as it proves itself to be a wonderful place for tourists to stay. Chipping Campden sits in the northern part of the Cotswolds and boasts many historical buildings from St. James' church where the Chipping Camden Music Festival is held every year, to the early 17th century market hall upon which the town prides itself. Not only does the town have a rich history but much more, the high street is laced with charming Cotswold stone buildings with a range of shops and pubs. Nearby there are several beautiful, formal gardens for you to wander through. Chipping Campden has held its own 'Olimpick Games' since the early 1600s including peculiar sports such as 'shin-kicking', most certainly worth lining your holiday up with to experience something so unique. For a dose of famous history, head to the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon just 12 short miles away, it offers some charming little buildings, bookshops, theatres and museums.

Note: This is an old property, which is laid out over three floors, with steep, winding stairs to the second floor, and some low ceilings, doorways and beams, which could therefore pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility.

Note: Due to the steps and split levels in the garden, children should be supervised outside at all times.
