“Garden needs a little bit of love, mow lawn get rid of few weeds.”

Other than that, very pretty and peaceful by the stream. Unfortunately we didn't realise there were more comfy garden chairs in the shed.

Other than that, very pretty and peaceful by the stream. Unfortunately we didn't realise there were more comfy garden chairs in the shed. Bigger mirrors in the bedrooms would have been nice. But all in all, a lovely cute cottage, we had a perfect weekend.

The property

PLEASE NOTE : DESPITE HAVING THREE BEDROOMS WITH SLEEPING SPACE TO ACCOMMODATE SIX GUESTS, THE MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY HAS BEEN LIMITED TO FOUR GUESTS DUE TO SPACE CONSTRAINTS IN THE GROUND FLOOR LIVING AREA. ALL THREE BEDROOMS CAN BE MADE UP FOR A SUPPLEMENT OF £70 PER BOOKING. Meadow Brook Cottage is an elegantly furnished Cotswold stone property which sleeps four guests, in two stylish bedrooms, with two contemporary bathrooms. Dating back to the mid-18th century, this charming terraced cottage retains wonderful traditional features including exposed beams and a Cotswold stone fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove. These period touches have been complemented by high-quality interiors and modern facilities which include wireless internet access, a Smart TV with basic Sky package, and a well-equipped kitchen. There is a large attractive garden which extends down to the tranquil brook, and free on-street parking is readily available close by. Meadow Brook Cottage is situated in scenic Blockley, an unspoilt village which benefits from having two country pubs, a community owned village shop and café which serves delicious food during the day, a historic Norman church and a children’s playground. The peaceful Blockley Brook flows through the village centre, and there are many local walks and cycle routes to enjoy in the surrounding countryside. The brook once had 12 watermills lining its banks, bringing wealth to the area during the height of the wool industry, and one of these mills is now Mill Dene Garden, a hidden gem which is open to the public and features a misty grotto, mill pond and gorgeous flowers in bloom. Blockley is well-placed for exploring the picturesque towns and villages of the North Cotswolds, including Chipping Campden and Stow-on-the-Wold, as well as the numerous tourist attractions the region has to offer. Batsford Arboretum, on the outskirts of Moreton-in-Marsh, has 56 acres of glorious parkland to explore, and the Cotswold Lavender Farm and Fields in Snowshill is a must-see for visitors to the area between May and August. Further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath are also within easy reach for day trips. Meadow Brook Cottage is the perfect retreat for a gathering of friends or family who are seeking a relaxing getaway surrounded by the beautiful Cotswold countryside. The front door opens into a stylish open plan living area and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: This warm and inviting living space boasts exposed wooden beams and elegant furnishings. Overlooking the patio, this room contains a Cotswold stone fireplace with cosy wood burning stove, two two-seater sofas, a Smart TV with basic Sky package and a wooden dining table which comfortably seats four; Kitchen: This bright and tastefully decorated kitchen is well-equipped for rustling up an evening meal and contains an electric oven with five-ring gas hob, a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle; Utility room with cloakroom: Contains a washing machine. Accessed via the utility room is a cloakroom which contains a toilet and wash basin. Stairs lead up from the living area to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 3: Overlooking the garden and meadow beyond, this spacious bedroom contains two single beds, a freestanding wardrobe with storage drawer, and a mirror; Shower room: Two steps lead up into the stylish shower room which contains a walk-in rain shower with separate handheld shower attachment, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Further stairs lead up from the first floor landing to the second floor landing in the eaves, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: Two steps lead up into the beautifully presented dual aspect master bedroom which has lovely exposed wooden beams and contains a king size bed, built-in cupboard with hanging rail, a mirror and a chair; Bedroom 2: Another well presented bedroom in the eaves with striking exposed wooden beams and garden views. This room contains a double bed and freestanding wardrobe; Family bathroom: This contemporary bathroom contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Directly outside the living room sits an attractive patio area with a bistro table and two chairs, a lovely spot to enjoy a light brunch or morning coffee. Through the gateway lies a beautifully maintained lawn garden which is bordered by leafy shrubs and colourful flowers. At the end of the garden there is a second patio area which sits alongside the tranquil brook and offers scenic rural views. This patio is home to an outdoor table with seating for four and an ornate bench, perfectly positioned to while away sunny afternoons beside the brook. There is also a stone-built garden shed which houses a tumble dryer. Please note there is a right of access for the neighbours along the path between the property and the lawn garden. Off-street parking is readily available close to the property.

About the location

BLOCKLEY

Moreton-in-Marsh 3 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 11 miles; Cheltenham 22 miles.

An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. The highest town in the Cotswolds, this ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham, boasting an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, as well as being famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance, making Blockley a great base for a Cotswolds holiday.

Note: Despite having three bedrooms with sleeping space to accommodate six guests, the maximum occupancy has been limited to four guests due to space constraints in the ground floor living area. Note: There is a right of access for the neighbours along the path between the property and the lawn garden. Note: An initial basket of logs is provided for the woodburning stove from October to March; guests should purchase logs locally outside of these months. Note: The property’s garden is not enclosed and there is access to the street as well as an unfenced brook, therefore young children should be supervised outside at all times. Note: The property does not accept commercial or corporate bookings.
