“Stunning cottage in a beautiful location, perfect for families & dogs.”

Only 2 things we would change- check in time should be earlier than 5pm, felt we got short changed for how much we paid to stay for 2 nights. The pillows are very uncomfortable, hard & lumpy.

The property

The Old Great Barn is a delightful Cotswold stone barn conversion which sleeps nine guests (see Key Features), in four bedrooms, with three stylish bathrooms. Dating back to the mid-19th century, this impressive property boasts exposed Cotswold stone walls, exposed beams, a wood burning stove and flagstone flooring. These character features have been complemented by contemporary décor and modern facilities including wireless internet access, two TVs, underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, and a well-equipped kitchen. There is a lovely garden at the rear and off-street parking is available for four cars. The Old Great Barn is situated in peaceful Filkins, an unspoilt village with a popular country pub, community owned village shop and outdoor swimming pool which is open between May and September. The village is surrounded by breathtaking countryside, with many walks and cycle routes on its doorstep including the famed Thames Path which passes through nearby Lechlade. The medieval market town of Burford is just five miles away and is home to a number of restaurants, pubs, tearooms and independent shops. Filkins is well-placed for exploring the many picturesque towns and villages of the Cotswolds such as Cirencester, Stow-on-the-Wold, Tetbury, Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury. There are also a variety of tourist attractions nearby including the Chedworth Roman Villa, Birdland Park and Gardens, The Cotswold Distillery, the Cotswold Country Park and Beach and the Cotswold Wildlife Park. The latter is just three miles away from Filkins and makes for a great day out for the whole family as dogs are welcome too. Other popular tourist destinations within easy reach include Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Stratford-upon-Avon and Bath.
