The property

Little Mullions is a wonderful Grade II listed property which sleeps 6+1 guests, in three well presented bedrooms (with the +1 option being a single sofa bed in the master bedroom only to be used for one child up to the age of 12, not for adults), with a family bathroom. This charming Cotswold stone cottage retains a quaint and picturesque exterior which belies its stylish interior and modern facilities. Contemporary features, including wireless internet access, a Smart TV and an electric flame effect stove, are complemented by beautiful character such as exposed beams, stone mullion windows and flagstone flooring throughout the ground floor. There is a colourful courtyard garden at the rear and off-street parking is available for two cars nearby. Please note this property only accepts 7 night bookings with a Friday changeover in all school holidays. Little Mullions is situated in the unspoilt village of Little Rissington, a peaceful village surrounded by stunning countryside with a number of walks and cycle routes on its doorstep, including those over to Great Rissington, home to The Lamb Inn, and others towards the much loved Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Bourton, often referred to as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ due to the low arched bridges that cross over the River Windrush, boasts a variety of popular restaurants, tearooms, shops and tourist attractions, with something on offer for all age groups. Little Rissington is well-placed for discovering the many lovely towns and villages of the North Cotswolds including Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford, The Slaughters and Kingham, as well as slightly further afield attractions such as Sudeley Castle, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway and the Cotswolds Distillery. World famous destinations such as Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Bath are also easily accessible for day trips. Little Mullions is the perfect cottage for a family break or for a gathering of friends who are seeking a relaxing retreat surrounded by the delightful Cotswold countryside. The front door opens into a stylish entrance hall which boasts an attractive stone mullion window complete with window seat. The following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: This warm and inviting reception room has a lovely bay window overlooking the lane and wonderful flagstone flooring which continues throughout the ground floor. Furnished in a contemporary style, this bright room contains a Cotswold stone fireplace with a cosy electric flame effect stove, a three-seater sofa, two-seater sofa, armchair, footstool, Smart TV and dining table which comfortably seats six; Kitchen: Giving access to the garden, this tastefully decorated kitchen is well-equipped for rustling up an evening meal and contains an electric range cooker with double oven and five-ring ceramic hob, a fridge/freezer, slimline dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and cafetière. Stairs lead up from the hallway to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: This stunning dual aspect bedroom has beautiful stone mullion windows and quaint village views. Spacious and well-lit, this room contains either a king size bed or two 75cm wide single beds, a single sofa bed (available upon request), an ornamental Cotswold stone fireplace, freestanding wardrobe with internal chest of drawers, door hooks, wall mirror and wooden chair; Bedroom 2: This elegant bedroom has painted wooden beams and contains a double bed, two chests of drawers, a hanging rail, door hooks, wooden chair and mirror; Family bathroom: This modern bathroom contains a 150cm long P shaped bath with overhead shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Further steep and narrow stairs with restricted head height lead up from the first floor landing to bedroom 3 in the eaves: Bedroom 3: This secluded bedroom in the eaves boasts striking exposed beams and contains a king size bed, chest of drawers, built-in wardrobe, door hooks, wooden chair and mirror. Accessed via the kitchen, the paved courtyard garden is a fantastic spot to enjoy the summer sunshine. There is a charcoal barbecue and an outdoor table with a parasol and seating for six, opposite which lies a flower bed full of colourful flowers with fragrant scents. Two old butler sinks now house herb gardens which guests are welcome to make use of, and within the outhouse there is a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is allocated off-street parking for one car 100 yards away, and if required, free on-street parking can easily be found.

About the location

LITTLE RISSINGTON

Bourton-on-the-Water 2 miles; Stow-on-the-Wold 5 miles.

Little Rissington is a quiet village outside the popular destination of Bourton-on-the-Water, Little Rissington is worth visiting for its 12th century church with its moving memorial to RAF servicemen. The village styling is typical for the Cotswolds; small cottages fronted by flower-boxes.

Associations are always made between the village and RAF Little Rissington, the air base which was located relatively close. The base is gone now, though buildings still remain and have now become the new village of Upper Rissington, and the aerodrome is now used for hang-gliding.

The main attraction is the 12th century church, which lies apart from the village up a short path to the west of the road. On Pound Lane is a row of Cotswold stone cottages described as perhaps the best example in Gloucestershire of 17th century vernacular building.
