The property

Corner Cottage is a superb 17th century, end-terrace cottage resting in Malmesbury.

The four-storey cottage can sleep four guests, making it a perfect dwelling for a retreat to this peaceful market town, within easy reach of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

You are welcomed into the property with a homely sitting room with wooden floor and a woodburning stove to keep you warm as you enjoy an evening in front of the wall-mounted television.

Head down the stone steps to kitchen which has everything you need to enjoy a self-catering holiday, including a handy dishwasher, and the doors lead out to a communal courtyard with furniture for guests to enjoy their morning coffee in the fresh air.

After a long day of walking, retire to the first-floor where there is a king-size bedroom with great storage space for guests to unpack, and a bathroom so guests can freshen up after a long day.

Whilst on the second-floor, there is a further double bedroom which has sloped ceilings so be careful if you're super tall!

Outside of the property, there is a roadside parking available on the street, or head to the public car park just a short walk away.

Malmesbury is a pretty town with so much history; tour round the Athelstan History Museum, discover the ruins of the 7th century Benedictine Abbey and the 15th century market cross whilst you walk alongside the 400 listed buildings of the town, enjoying the shops, pubs and eateries.

An interesting part of the town of the 16th century Abbey House Gardens which not only has a stunning country house with flower, tree and shrub displays, but is home to 'The Naked Gardeners' and has clothes-optional days.

Nearby is the Cotswolds Water Park which has a beach among fresh water lakes and boasts a fantastic opportunity for watersports such as boating and waterskiing, and you can also enjoy horse riding, fishing, cycling or a round of golf.

For walkers and cyclists, the nearby Cotswolds AONB offers scenic hills, timeless villages and castles to explore.

Also nearby you can visit the market town of Cirencester with its open air swimming pool, the art galleries of Tetbury or the city of Bath with its roman baths and striking Abbey.

For a stunning trip to Wiltshire, choose the traditional Corner Cottage as your base.

About the location

MALMESBURY

Chippenham 11 miles; Cirencester 13 miles; Bath 23 miles; Tetbury 5 miles.

Dating back to the Iron Age and reputedly the oldest borough in England, the pretty market town of Malmesbury is located on a hilltop in the southern Cotswolds. Malmesbury is steeped in history and offers visitors over 400 listed buildings, a 15th century Market Cross, a ruined 7th century Benedictine abbey, an annual carnival and many independent shops, cafes and traditional pubs. Abbey House Gardens, home to 'The Naked Gardeners' can also be found in Malmesbury (Note: The gardeners are clothed during normal opening hours) and the annual Womad Music Festival is close by at Charlton Park. The area offers many country houses, including Rodmarton Manor and Gardens, and Chavenage House, a fine example of a Cotswold manor unchanged for 400 years. Just a short drive away is The Cotswold Water Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, covering 40 square miles and offering a wide range of activities, including boating, waterskiing, fishing, cycling, golf and horse riding, plus Bath, Cirencester and Tetbury are all within easy reach and well worth a visit.
