Lovely village. Excellent shop and cafe. Very well located.

Lovely village. Excellent shop and cafe. Very well located. The house was fine. It had everything we needed but all a little tired. Needs new pans. Urgently needs the seal on the shower screen replacing. Very yellowed and old. A couple of rattan garden chairs would have been appreciated. Tiny metal chairs were not pleasant. Good wifi connection. Generally a very enjoyable holiday

Blockley was a lovely little village with a great pub - The Great Western Arms. The cottage was in a great location which allowed us to be able to explore some of the other pretty villages and towns in the vicinity. I would definitely recommend staying here, it was lovely and clean, decorated tastefully and in keeping with the character of the cottage.

The property

Green Pump Cottage is a beautiful Cotswold stone cottage in the peaceful village of Blockley, with fabulous views of the surrounding Blockley Valley from each of the bedrooms. The historic village of Blockley is picturesque and benefits from having two pubs and a community owned village shop & cafe as well as a historic Norman church in the centre of the village. Numerous beautiful country walks are accessible directly from the cottage and Blockley is well located for visiting the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds. The property has been lovingly decorated and furnished by its owners, with modern facilities such as wireless internet access, a Freeview TV with Apple TV box. These facilities are complemented by beautiful traditional features, including stone mullion windows, an exposed Cotswold stone wall and a cosy open fire in the living room. Green Pump Cottage sleeps 5+1 guests, in three bedrooms (with the +1 option being a single day bed in bedroom 3), with a stylish family bathroom. There is a pretty garden and quiet on-street parking is readily available close to the cottage. Green Pump Cottage is the perfect place for a group of friends or a small family looking for a relaxing break in the Cotswolds. Green Pump Cottage is located on a quiet street in the picturesque village of Blockley. The front door opens into an open plan living/dining room and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: This sociable living space is full of character including a stone mullion window, a fireplace with open fire and an exposed Cotswold stone wall. There are two sofas, a pouffe, a Freeview TV with Apple TV box, and a wooden dining table with seating for six; Kitchen: Two steps lead down into the well-equipped kitchen which contains a large electric oven with five-ring gas hob, a fridge, freezer, washing machine, microwave, kettle and toaster. Stairs lead up from the living room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: An elegantly furnished room with lovely views overlooking the surrounding countryside. This room blends contemporary style with period character, with exposed wooden floors and a stone mullion window. There is a double wooden sleigh bed, a chest of drawers and a hanging rail for storage, and a small TV with a DVD player (please note this TV is for watching DVDs only); Family bathroom: Contains a bath with an overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Further stairs lead up to the second floor and the following rooms: Bedroom 2: Located in the eaves, this lovely room has beautiful views of the garden and rolling hills beyond. This room contains a double bed and a chest of drawers; Bedroom 3: Also in the eaves, this beautifully presented room contains a single bed plus a day bed which can be made up upon request. For storage this room contains a chest of drawers and clothes stand with hangers. The pretty garden is at the back of the cottage and consists of a small patio area with a table and seating for four which overlooks the lawn towards the second patio area at the end of the garden. This patio area also has a bench and a wrought iron seat, and a charcoal barbecue is provided. Please note that although the garden is enclosed, there is a right of access for the neighbours. Quiet on-street parking is available at the front of the property.

An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. The highest town in the Cotswolds, this ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham, boasting an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, as well as being famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance, making Blockley a great base for a Cotswolds holiday.
