The property

Chipping Campden 1.8 miles Church Orchard Cottage is a 16th century Cotswold stone detached farm cottage which sleeps four guests, in two stylish bedrooms, with a family bathroom. This stunning property is one of the oldest dwellings in the village yet has been finished to a high standard by its interior designer owner in a contemporary style with modern facilities which include wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen. This spacious and elegant cottage boasts many attractive features including painted beams, a large sandstone fireplace with a wood burning stove and a fabulous glass roof lantern which bathes the dining area in natural light. Surrounding the cottage is the enclosed, south facing garden, well-maintained and complete with summer house, and to the side of the property there is off-street parking for up to one large car or two smaller cars. Church Orchard Cottage is located off a quiet lane in the charming village of Weston Subedge, a quaint village with an award-winning local pub, The Seagrave Arms, and a thriving village hall which has a lively bar and regular film viewings. Lying at the foot of Dover's Hill, and located within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are many cycle routes and walking trails to explore from the village and Dover's Hill itself also features on the famed Cotswold Way long distance walking trail which links Chipping Campden to Bath, spanning 100 miles of fantastic countryside. Weston Subedge is just two miles from the picturesque market town of Chipping Campden, with its wide range of cafes, pubs and restaurants to enjoy, and the much-loved village of Broadway is also just a short drive away, with its art galleries, tea rooms and the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway. Weston Subedge is ideally located for exploring the many beautiful towns and villages of the North Cotswolds, as well as further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Oxford and Blenheim Palace. Church Orchard Cottage is the perfect country retreat for a gathering of friends or family who are seeking a relaxing break surrounded by the glorious Cotswold countryside. The gabled porch at the front of the property is a useful space for storing coats and shoes, and from here, the stable front door leads into a small hall. The following rooms are on the ground floor: Living room: This elegant room has original beams and bespoke furnishings and contains a large sandstone fireplace with cosy wood burning stove, two sofas and a footstool, a Smart TV with Netflix access for account holders only, and a well-stocked games cupboard with board games, books and children's drawing books; Kitchen/dining room: Through the internal French doors in the living room lies the wonderful open plan kitchen/dining area. This luxurious space, reminiscent of a Homes and Gardens feature, is flooded with natural light from the glass roof lantern and is perfect for socialising. This space contains a double electric oven, a three-ring induction hob and extraction bar, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine. There is also a washing machine, iPod docking station with Bluetooth connector, round dining table with seating for four and two armchairs; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and wash basin. The staircase, with its ornate overhead chandelier, leads from the entrance hall to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: This stunning room has been smartly decorated with antique French light fittings and a panelled feature wall which contrasts with the otherwise light, neutral tones of the room. This bedroom contains a king size bed, a fitted wardrobe and trunk for additional storage, a gilt-edged mirror and an armchair; Bedroom 2: Overlooking the garden, this lovely room has a modern contemporary countryside décor and contains a double bed, bedside tables and hanging rail with shelf for storage and a bedroom chair; Family bathroom: A stylish bathroom which contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet, wash basin, heated towel rail and demister mirror. The enchanting south facing back garden wraps around the cottage, with miniature box hedges and an array of beautiful flowers, shrubs and mature trees filling the raised beds at the borders. An impressive date palm tree gives the garden an exotic feel and besides this lies the patio area which contains a large outdoor table with seating for four and a charcoal barbecue. To the side of the cottage there is a lawn area and the addition of dusk-to-dawn sensory lights around the garden creates a romantic atmosphere and makes it a delightful spot to relax in the summer months once the sun’s set. Two stone steps lead up to the summer house which looks down the driveway and across to the neighbouring farmland and 12th century church. Equipped with heating, electricity and a spacious bamboo seating area, the summer house is another wonderful area in which to unwind after days spent exploring the Cotswolds. The gated driveway provides off-street parking for up to two small cars, and further on-street parking is available on the lane.

About the location

Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 12 miles

This market town defines the saying "good things come in small packages" as it proves itself to be a wonderful place for tourists to stay. Chipping Campden sits in the northern part of the Cotswolds and boasts many historical buildings from St. James' church where the Chipping Camden Music Festival is held every year, to the early 17th century market hall upon which the town prides itself. Not only does the town have a rich history but much more, the high street is laced with charming Cotswold stone buildings with a range of shops and pubs. Nearby there are several beautiful, formal gardens for you to wander through. Chipping Campden has held its own 'Olimpick Games' since the early 1600s including peculiar sports such as 'shin-kicking', most certainly worth lining your holiday up with to experience something so unique. For a dose of famous history, head to the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon just 12 short miles away, it offers some charming little buildings, bookshops, theatres and museums.

Note: Due to space restrictions in bedroom 2, a travel cot would need to be located in the master bedroom.
