- Hasmik, Apr 2021Hamish “Excellent cottage and immaculate.”
Really cozy and well positioned in the centre of the village. Spotlessly clean and well kitted out. You need to take all food and condiments but plenty of equipment. Fab shower. Nice little front garden plot. I would recommend to anyone.

- Andrew, Aug 2020Isobel “Buckthorn Cottage in Chipping Campden was a delight.”
We arrived early and The Cleaning Angels were just finishing and allowed us in. It has to be said that the cottage was spotless and the team deserve a huge pat on the back. All our needs and more were catered for including everything for a cuppa on arrival along with a cake.Great position for travelling throughout the Cotswolds and a one minute walk to pub just across the forecourt from the cottage.Weather was atrocious but having such a beautiful cottage to return to was a treat. First time we've used Character Cottages and were not disappointed right from booking through to the end of our stay.

We arrived early and the housekeeping ladies were just finishing so let us in. Must give them credit as the property was quite spotless. Everything you could possibly need was catered for. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk already waiting along with a Chocolate Cake. :-) Beautiful cottage, lovely decor, amazingly comfortable bed. One minute walk ( quite literally) across the courtyard to The Noel Arms with other restaurants & Pubs all within easy walking distance All in all just perfect

The property
Buckthorn Cottage is a listed Cotswold stone cottage which sleeps 2+2 guests, in one bedroom (with the +2 option being a king size sofa bed in the living room), with a stylish family bathroom. Once part of the stables for the Noel Arms Hotel which dates back to the 12th century, this beautiful cottage has been tastefully decorated in a contemporary style with modern facilities including wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen. An enclosed garden lies at the front of the property and there is an allocated parking space for one car. An archway from Chipping Campden’s high street leads into a peaceful cul-de-sac which is home to a small number of properties, including Buckthorn Cottage. This much loved market town has a variety of pubs, tea rooms and independent shops to enjoy, as well as impressive architecture including the 17th century Market Hall in the centre of the town and the East Banqueting House just a short walk away. This picturesque town is surrounded by stunning countryside, with many walks and cycle routes on its doorstep, none so famous as that of the Cotswold Way long distance walking trail, a 100 mile long trail which links Chipping Campden to Bath. Chipping Campden is well placed for exploring the other wonderful towns and villages of the North Cotswolds, such as Winchcombe, Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway and Snowshill. Popular tourist attractions in the area include the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, the Lavender Fields at Snowshill and Hidcote Gardens, now under ownership of the National Trust. Further afield destinations such as Oxford, Blenheim Palace and Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, are easily accessible for day trips. Buckthorn Cottage is an ideal base for a couple or family who are looking to explore the glorious countryside whilst being only a stone’s throw from the amenities of a vibrant market town. The cottage is laid out as follows: Living/dining room: With beautiful Cotswold stone flooring and oak beams, this light and welcoming space contains a king size sofa bed (suitable for one adult or two children under the age of 12), an armchair, a Smart TV with Netflix access for account holders only, a wooden dining table with seating for four, playing cards and a small selection of parlour games; Kitchen: The smart kitchen is a continuation of the living area and contains an electric oven with four-ring induction hob, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and cafetière. Stairs lead up from the living room to the bright first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: This elegant, well presented dual aspect bedroom is flooded with natural light from the Velux window and contains a king size bed, freestanding wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table, wicker chair and full length mirror; Family bathroom: This stylish bathroom with underfloor heating contains a walk-in shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Located at the front of the cottage, the delightful west facing garden is framed by two mature silver birch trees and bordered by a low dry-stone wall. Enjoying dappled sunshine throughout the day in fair weather, this charming outdoor space has an attractive stone table with seating for four and the trellis at its border is home to lavender, jasmine and roses which help create a natural screen for privacy. An allocated parking space is provided and there is free on-street parking available in the town if required.
