    “Attractive, comfortable typical Cotswolds cottage.”

Snug & ideal for a couple. Fantastic views over rural setting.Great location on village edge with lovely country walks right on the doorstep. Easy walk into beautiful Blockley with fab cafe and shop. There are 2 pubs but due to covid-19 restrictions we didn’t visit. Easy driving to all Cotswolds attractions. A perfect base for a short or long break.

The property

Honeysuckle Cottage is a beautiful period property, with stunning views of the surrounding Cotswold countryside. Located in the picturesque village of Blockley, the cottage is one of a row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages built to house the weavers who once worked in the many silk mills of the village. Blockley is very peaceful, yet it benefits from having two pubs and a community owned village shop & café, as well as a historic Norman church. Many beautiful country walks are accessible directly from the village, and Blockley is well placed for exploring the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Blenheim Palace. The cottage has been lovingly furnished by its owner, to create a fresh, stylish feel that enhances the traditional character features, including exposed Cotswold stone walls, flagstone flooring, stone mullion windows, and a cosy wood burning stove. The character of the cottage is complemented by its modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-presented kitchen. Honeysuckle Cottage sleeps a maximum of four people, in two bedrooms, with a family bathroom. There is a lovely enclosed garden to the rear of the property and free on street parking is available. Honeysuckle Cottage is ideal for a family, friends or couples, who are looking for the perfect break in one of the North Cotswold’s prettiest villages. Honeysuckle Cottage is one of a row of Cotswold stone cottages, on a quiet street in the village of Blockley. The front door opens directly into the living room, and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living room: This bright and welcoming room has wonderful character features, including an exposed Cotswold stone wall with window seat, stone mullion window, and a cosy wood burning stove. There are two comfortable sofas, and a Smart TV with integrated DVD player; Family bathroom: Located at the back of the cottage, with fabulous views over Blockley Valley, the refurbished bathroom has a roll top bath with an overhead rainfall shower, wash basin and a toilet. Stairs lead down directly from the living room to the lower ground floor rooms: Dining room: This delightful room has exposed wooden beams, a flag stone floor, large ornamental stone fireplace and another pretty window seat. The wooden dining table seats four people, and there is also a sideboard, a wine rack and a boot cupboard; Kitchen: This well-presented room has an electric oven with a four-ring gas hob, fridge, freezer, slimline dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle, toaster and filter coffee machine. There are also a good selection of cookery books. Returning to the ground floor, a relatively steep staircase leads up to the first floor bedrooms, both of which have lovely countryside views: Bedroom 1: This pretty room has a wooden floor and stone mullion windows, and can be set up as either a king size bed, or two 75cm wide single beds. There is a wardrobe with shelves; Bedroom 2: Another lovely room, with stone mullion windows, which contains a king size bed. The cottage's enclosed garden is at the rear of the property, and is accessed from the dining room on the lower ground floor. There is a decking area, bordered on either side by mature plants, which leads to a lovely seating area at the end of the garden, with stunning uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. There is a table and four chairs, as well as a charcoal barbecue. Free on street parking is available on the quiet road outside the cottage.

About the location

BLOCKLEY

Moreton-in-Marsh 3 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 11 miles; Cheltenham 22 miles.

An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. The highest town in the Cotswolds, this ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham, boasting an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, as well as being famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance, making Blockley a great base for a Cotswolds holiday.

Note: For the comfort of future guests, we ask that dogs remain downstairs, stay off the furniture and that no trace of a dog remains after your departure. Note: An initial basket of logs is provided for the woodburning stove between October and March; outside of these months' guests should purchase log supplies locally. Note: Blockley is in a valley and guests should be aware that mobile phone reception can be variable. Note: Guests, particularly those with young children or a dog, should be aware that the front door opens directly from the pavement into the living room and the staircase down to the lower ground-floor is accessed directly from the living room. Note: One of the king-size beds is zip/link and can be twin on request.
