“Fabulous! We had such a lovely stay, the area is gorgeous, the nest was super cosy.”

It was clean- packed with disinfectant, wipes, hand soap etc, which we really appreciated as our ASDA delivery driver didn't deliver our shopping! There are lots of lovely little walks and pubs near by and some gorgeous towns! We would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone!

The property

The Nest at Robins Roost is a delightful Cotswold stone property which sleeps two guests, in a contemporary bedroom, with a stylish bathroom. Forming the first floor of a converted barn within the grounds of Robins Roost, this country bolthole has been finished to a high standard with a warm and inviting interior and an array of modern facilities including wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen. There is a charming designated outdoor seating area with fabulous rural views and an off-street parking space for one car is available on the shared driveway. The Nest is peacefully situated in the heart of the unspoilt village of Little Rissington, a traditional village surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are many pleasant walks and cycle routes on its doorstep to discover, including scenic footpaths to the neighbouring villages of Bourton-on-the-Water, The Slaughters and Great Rissington, the latter being home to The Lamb Inn, a popular 14th century pub which serves delicious local food and offers views across the Windrush Valley. Little Rissington is well-placed for exploring the many picturesque towns and villages of the North Cotswolds including Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, Burford and Bourton-on-the-Water. Bourton, often referred to as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ due to the low arched bridges that cross over the River Windrush, has a number of pubs, restaurants, tearooms and shops to enjoy, as well as popular tourist attractions such as Birdland, The Model Village and the Cotswold Motoring and Toy Museum. Further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath are also within easy reach for day trips. The Nest is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway in the heart of the Cotswold countryside. Stone steps lead up from the carport to the front door which opens into the living area: Kitchen/dining room/living room: This bright and contemporary open plan living area has wonderful countryside views and is a cosy home away from home. It contains an electric oven with four-ring induction hob, a fridge with small freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave, cafetière, kettle and toaster. There is a fold out counter for additional food preparation space, a DAB radio with Bluetooth connection, a fold away dining table which comfortably seats two guests, a two-seater sofa, small footstool and Smart TV; Bedroom: This beautifully presented dual aspect bedroom contains a king size bed, chest of drawers and clothes rail; Bathroom: The smart, modern bathroom contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. At the bottom of the entrance steps there is a designated gravel patio area with a bistro table and seating for two, perfect for al fresco dining in the warmer weather. From here there are stunning rural views across the grounds of Robins Roost, grounds comprising large lawns, mature trees and a tranquil pond. The garden is primarily for the use of the main house, however guests are welcome to explore at their leisure. Please note that the pond is unfenced and that dogs must be kept on a lead when in the grounds as there could be young children or other dogs in the vicinity. There is an allocated parking space for one car on the shared driveway.

About the location

LITTLE RISSINGTON

Bourton-on-the-Water 2 miles; Stow-on-the-Wold 5 miles.

Little Rissington is a quiet village outside the popular destination of Bourton-on-the-Water, Little Rissington is worth visiting for its 12th century church with its moving memorial to RAF servicemen. The village styling is typical for the Cotswolds; small cottages fronted by flower-boxes.

Associations are always made between the village and RAF Little Rissington, the air base which was located relatively close. The base is gone now, though buildings still remain and have now become the new village of Upper Rissington, and the aerodrome is now used for hang-gliding.

The main attraction is the 12th century church, which lies apart from the village up a short path to the west of the road. On Pound Lane is a row of Cotswold stone cottages described as perhaps the best example in Gloucestershire of 17th century vernacular building.

Note: For the comfort of future guests, we ask that dogs stay off the furniture and that no trace of a dog remains after your departure. Note: The nest can be booked in conjunction with The Cottage at Robins Roost for larger groups. Note: The property sits within the owners’ grounds which guests are welcome to enjoy, dogs must be kept on lead at all times when in the gardens as the grounds are not enclosed and there is an unfenced pond. Note: In the owners’ carport beneath the property there is a washing machine and a tumble dryer which guests may make reasonable use of. Note: Regrettably, The Nest does not accept babies and children under the age of two years. Note: The property is accessed via external stone steps which may become slippery in adverse weather conditions. Note: The Nest is a self-contained property which is in the grounds of Robins Roost where the owners live. Note: No corporate or commercial bookings.
